Remote Area Medical (RAM) is a nonprofit volunteer organization that offers free health care services (medical, dental and vision care) in underdeveloped countries and in the United States. RAM has held hundreds of free clinics providing services to thousands of men, women and children, including in Los Angeles last year. For one entire week, from April 27th through May 3rd, 2010, 6am-6pm, RAM/LA will provide free care to anyone who comes. The event will be held at the Los Angeles Sports Arena at 3939 S. Figueroa Street, LA 90037. Services are provided by volunteer doctors, nurses, dentists, dental hygienists, dental assistants, ophthalmologists, optometrists, opticians and other trained health professionals from the State of California. For a flyer in English, click here. For a flyer in Spanish, click here. To attend the clinic, patients must pick up a wristband on Sunday, April 25th at the LA Sports Arena. The wristbands will be distributed starting at 9am until all are gone – first come, first served. They will be color-coded for different days. For more information on the wristbands, click here for English and here for Spanish. CCALAC has worked with the LA Department of Health Services and RAM organizers to ensure that RAM patients needing follow up care are referred to a community clinics or DHS facility, as appropriate. Patients who are not able to get services at RAM can find a clinic through CCALAC’s clinic locator by clicking here.
